How
can I check the correct functioning (process value display)
of the instrument and the coaxial cable?
The process
value can be predefined via a pH
simulator.
If this is not available, then the voltage can be predefined
via a voltage at the instrument input (BNC socket) and, for
checking the coaxial cable, also at the end of the cable.
According to the voltage, the pH value can then be read on
the instrument.
The instrument should be set to the factory default setting
and not display any error messages.

I
can't make any settings at the parameter level and the
configuration level.
In
order to be able to make settings at these two levels, the
corresponding enabling CODE must be entered.
Initial condition > Measurement mode > Press the PGM
key as often as necessary until CODE appears.
Using the UP/DOWN keys, set the appropriate CODE. Enter with
PGM.
The display jumps back to 0000.
The corresponding level (parameter) can now be selected.
If the decimal point flashes during input, this means that
the code was entered correctly.

The
instrument displays the error message “ERR”.
Electrode
calibration (2-point) was terminated with an error. The old
calibration data are retained.
The factory setting (nuLL = pH 7.00, SLoP = 100%) is
displayed for the parameters nuLL and SLoP
at the configuration level.
In order to eliminate the error message “ERR”, these two
parameters must either be altered manually from the keys
(e.g. alter last digit only by 1 digit and confirm with PGM),
or recalibrate.

What
is meant by Min/Max contact?
The Min/Max response for the two contacts K1 and K2
can be altered at the configuration level C212 (controller
outputs).
MIN contact: The switching condition is fulfilled
if the process value is smaller than the
setpoint.
MAX contact: The switching condition is fulfilled
if the process value is larger than the
setpoint.

Can
the make/break switching action be altered?
The
make/break setting can be altered for both the contacts K1
und K2 at the configuration level, under C212 (controller
outputs).
The factory setting for both contacts is “make” contact.
Make contact: (n.o.) As long as the
switching condition is fulfilled, the
corresponding output is active (closed).
Break contact: (n.c.) As long as the
switching condition is not fulfilled, the
corresponding output is active (closed).

How
can I start calibration?
The
controller has to be enabled in order to start calibration.
Initial condition > Measurement mode > Press the PGM
key as often as is necessary until CODE appears > Enter
0300 and confirm with PGM > Press the exit key once >
Press PGM + Down keys simultaneously.
The temperature 25.0 will appear in the
upper (red) display, the lower (green) display will show °C,
the decimal point in the lower display flashes.
Please refer to the operating
instructions for the subsequent procedure.

I
need a process value output. What do I have to watch out
for?
The instrument
must have the corresponding analog output. Make sure that
this is the case by checking the instrument type
designation.
See chapter 4.1 “Type designation” in the operating
instructions.

The process value
output 1 is set at the configuration level C213 - Other
outputs I.
The
process value output 2 is set at the configuration level
C214 - Other outputs II.
The scaling is set under the parameters SOL and SOH.

What
do I have to watch out for if I want to set limit control?
At
the configuration level C211 – Controller options,
“Limit controller” has to be set for K1 and K2.
C211- 11xx
At the configuration level C212 – Controller outputs,
please note the MIN/MAX setting and the make/break contact.
C212 – xx10
At the configuration level C213 – Other outputs I, the
alarm monitoring for the relays K1 and K2 is activated for
the setpoints that have been selected accordingly.
C213 xxx0
At the configuration level C214 – Other outputs II, the
function set at the configuration level C211-11xx (limit
controller) must be activated.
C214 – xx11

How
can I check the correct functioning (process value display)
of the instrument and the coaxial cable?
The redox value
can be predefined through a pH
simulator, as for the pH measurement.
The redox value can be read using a table in the operating
instructions of the simulator. If the simulator is not
available, then the voltage can be predefined via a voltage
at the instrument input (BNC socket) and, for checking the
coaxial cable, also at the end of the cable.
According to the voltage, the redox value can then be read
on the instrument.
The instrument should be set to the factory default setting
and not display any error messages.

What
needs to be observed when optimizing the controller?
In
most cases, it is sufficient to use the factory settings for
commissioning.
However, if these settings do not correspond to the required
control action, then only one parameter at a time should be
altered.
If this does not improve the control action, then the
previously selected parameters should be canceled.
The corresponding parameters can be looked up in chapter
22.1 in the operating
instructions: Programming the controller (parameter
level).

How
can I check the correct functioning (process value display)
of the instrument and the coaxial cable?
The
process value can be predefined via a conductivity
simulator. If a simulator is not available, then a
resistor can be connected via a fixed resistor at the two
input terminals of the instrument and, for checking the
cable, at the end of the cable.
The process value can be read according to the resistance.
The required resistance can be calculated using a formula.
The instrument should be set to the factory default setting
and not display any error messages.
for example:
range 0 -100uS
required display value 50uS
cell constant K=0.1

| R
(resistance of measuring cell) = |
0.01 (cell
constant K) |
| 5 uS (required
display value) |
This results in a cell
resistance R of 2000 ohms, which is connected to the
terminals 6 and 7.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The
instrument displays the error message “ERR”.
The
calibration of the relative cell constant or the
determination of the temperature coefficient for the medium
being measured was terminated with an error. The old data
are retained.
The factory default data are displayed (Cell=100%, ALPH=2.3).
In order to eliminate the “ERR” message, both parameters
have to be modified manually from the keys (e.g.
increment/decrement by one digit and confirm with the PGM
key), or recalibrate.

What
do I have to watch out for with error messages F022 and
F023?
Error
messages F022 and F023 signal overrange or underrange.
In addition, “Hold” is displayed.
In this case, it should be checked whether the correct
process value was measured.
Cell, cable, plug and the selected range “ranG” should
be checked using the cell constant that is specified on the
cell.

What
do I have take into consideration during the measurement of
high-purity water?
Measurement
and calibration have to be carried out in a closed measurement
circuit or within a closed container.
Any contact of the medium with the atmosphere will lead to an
appreciable change in conductivity.
A cell with ASTM test certificate should be used for this
purpose. |
